Chapter 13: Success on Judgment Day

The purpose of life is to discharge our duties to the fullest extent of abilities, strength of body and mind. The duties can be divided into two categories.

Duties towards Humans (parents, neighbors etc.)
Duties towards Allah (worship, charity etc.)

Every time you fulfill the duty with the concept that you are doing it for the sake of earning reward from Allah (God) then sure you earn reward for fulfilling that duty.

“Purpose of Life: fulfilling duties towards Allah (God) and Human.”

If you are good at your duties towards humans but not good at your duties towards Allah or vice versa then you are among the looser on the Day of Judgment.

As far as duties towards Allah is concern its your and Allah’s personal matter. He is ultimate in mercy. There is no way we can calculate His mercy and compassion. Allah (God) says that if you take care of the biggest sins then I will expel all the sins from your account and admit you to the gate of great honor. One of the biggest sins is associating partners with God. This sin will never be forgiven. Allah has also mentioned already well before the exam that on the Day of Judgment only those folks will enter into heaven that were having their good deeds heavier than the bad ones.

Figure: Balance of Duties towards Allah

Seems like a very fair game guys. Allah (God) has mentioned everything upfront and well-before the exam. Earning Allah’s love by performing duties towards Allah can never be calculated, it can be felt though. But earning Allah’s love by performing duties towards the humans can be calculated and analyzed.

“You cannot have all the people happy with you all of the time.”

To calculate this love first we have to analyze your relationships with all the people in your surrounding including but not limited to parents, brothers, sisters, neighbors, friends, office colleagues etc. irrespective of their color, race, religion, physical appearance etc.

Let’s suppose you have ten relatives, ten friends, five neighbors and five special friends that you meet every week or so e.g. Barber, people at the grocery shop etc.

Happy relatives = 7
Happy friends = 3
Happy special friends = 5
God's love for u = 100 X (people happy from u in your surrounding)/(total # of people in your surroundings)

= 100 X (7+3+5)/ (20)
= 75%

Try to have this percentage as high as possible. How truly someone has said,

You can have some of the people happy all the time, and all of the people some of the time but you cannot have all the people happy all of the time.

“As long as good deeds are heavier than bad ones, you are on the safe side.”

For all those people who are not happy from you, try to analyze that particular relationship to figure out the cause. Reach out to the person with humbleness, respect and kindness and try your best to win his/her heart. I know sometimes it would be very difficult but the sole purpose behind this endeavor is to gain God's love.

Try having the percentage always greater than 80 or at least in 70s to be on the safe side because as long as the good deeds are heavier you are on the safe side. But do reach out to folks who are not happy with you for the sake of Allah (God) with humbleness to turn hatred to love. If it still doesn’t work out then pray for Allah’s that you tried but things are hard to get straightened up and always ask for His forgiveness.
